The relationship of Christ to the church portrays the relationship of a husband to his wife. This "mystery" reveals Christ asking us to be His wife.
We have the freedom of choice to say yes or no. Should we say yes, this mystery includes how the engagement is initiated and rules we are to follow during this engagement.
These rules even include how we are to wait for our husband to come and take us away. It involves the marriage itself and the celebration, including the marriage supper.
It involves how we are to set up housekeeping, including the man leaving his parents.
